How do you guys make up your comments? And how many do you create for each comment run? Any help would be appreciated cuz I'm terrible at this... Thanks.

Just look at the comments section where your posting your comments to. Then rewrite the best ones and make a list of like 30 of these short but realistic comments.
It's easy takes 15 minutes at most. If you want to over do it you can use article spinners with spinn syntax to make hundreds or even thousands of comments, but the preparation for the spinning process takes time.

Try to run a SB routine that's a little targetted, then your comments will be easier to come up with.
I find general comments the most difficult because they always look spammy IMO. Add a couple niche related keywords and they take on a whole new form.
I usually try to write comments in the form of a question to engage with the blog owner. For example I might say, "{Hello|Hey there|Hey|Good day|Howdy|Hi there|Hello there|Hi}! Would you mind if I share your blog with my {facebook|twitter|zynga|myspace} group? There's a lot of {people|folks} that I think would really {enjoy|appreciate} your content. Please let me know. {Thanks|Cheers|Thank you|Many thanks}"
That's a pretty basic comment but you get the idea. Try to engage with the blog owner by asking a question or addressing a problem with their blog or how they can improve their blog. That's what I found works best for me at least. Good luck =) If you still find it hard to come up with some comments, let me know and I'll try to help you out. I have a new software that scrapes comments from various sources, so if you want I'll scrape some for you if ya just let me know your niche.
