Can I Only Ping RSS Sites? - knector - 07-01-2010

About the RRS Pinger in scrapebox, can that only be used for RSS and XML feeds, course I have many times seen people show how to ping web sites, NOT feeds, at places like pingomatic which Scrapebox also use, and wordpress pings the same sites automatically, doesn't that do any good if it's not a feed/rss link?

Could I upload a .html file or make some links on a site/blog with links on and ping that (using the RSS feature) with it, and would that help to get them indexed faster?

i was getting tons of fails when i tried pinging non rss urls for indexing purposes so i asked the sb owner about it and he/she said that no, it was not designed to ping non rss urls but would perhaps make it so in a future update

there are plenty of other mass pingers available if you check syndk8 forum that seem to work pretty decent for non rss urls

Thanks googlealchemist, it's not many answers we get on this forum, but I got lucky this time.

But it's strange that it can't do normal sites, course the very same places like pingomatic actually have the rrs as an optional and only the regular url is needed. Maybe it's because it's using it in a different way as there is the rpc in front of it rpc.pingomatic.com, but then again wordpress uses the exact same, or some of, urls as SB. Maybe wordpress is not pinging the post as I thought, but just pings the rss feed from the blog, I wish someone could confirm that.

EDIT. I just tried pinging to wordpress blogs, first with the regular domain url and there after the feed url, and it had the same success rate, so maybe it have been updated to work with regular urls, or it have always been able to, again please can someone confirm this.

OR , maybe it just says success because it did the ping, but it don't work anyway as it has to be rss.

Please can someone confirm any of this.

If it pings article directories then it pings normal websites as well.

Check the add-on called, "rapid indexer". This allows you to load a list of URL's which it will then go and submit your URL's to statistics sites which will help to get your links indexed faster.

An example of the statistics sites are:

Is that the format the sites you upload need to be in? Because the sample file you download doesn't have that.
