False positives on email scraper plugin? - DigitalMu - 09-17-2019

I'm just now toying with the email scraper for the first time.  I noticed that with some companies I'm getting endless false positives.  Is there any way around this?

Note I used a bad email address on all of the examples in my pic.

If the domain has a catchall for emails, then it will always show as valid as the only way to get 100% accuracy in that case is to send an email and see if it bounces.

Thanks much.  I figured as much but I was really hoping that there was some other way to test Smile

Unfortunately there is not. Because it basically walks thru all the steps that an email server takes to actually send an email. Many servers will respond part way thru with that something doesn't exist etc... But if its a catchall it will pass this step. Then when it gets the mail it will either bounce at that point or go thru but be delivered to where ever it is that it gets delivered.

So those emails addresses may still receive mail, which means they are technically not invalid, but the email may just wind up going to a black hole etc...
