I found that harvesting from Google, Bing and Yahoo is great, but AOL is always an exception.
Is it any good at all? It either shows errors or doesn't harvest anything / no results.

AOL is broken in both the single and multi threaded harvester. However it works in the custom harvester.
Go to settings and make sure that use custom harvester is checked, and then when you go to harvest you can use AOL plus 20+ engines total. I have a video here:
